BMW to Hike Capacity 33% in China
BMW AG says it will expand annual capacity at its two assembly plants in China from 300,000 to 400,000 units in two years.
BMW AG says it will expand annual capacity at its two assembly plants in China from 300,000 to 400,000 units in two years.
The company also will broaden its lineup of locally assembled vehicles to six from three over the same period. One of the new models will be a variant of BMW's X3 crossover, according to the company.
BMW and partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Co. Ltd. currently make the X1 small crossover and long-wheelbase versions of its 3 Series small sedan and 5 Series midsize sedan.
BMW Group sold a record 390,700 vehicles in China last year and is on track to surpass 400,000 sales in 2014.
