BMW AG has officially opened a research campus for autonomous car development in Unterschleissheim, Bavaria.

 
The 248,000 sq-ft (23,000 sq-meter) complex can house 1,800 employees devoted to vehicle automation and connectivity. BMW says the center’s open-plan layout was designed to encourage flexibility and efficiency for individuals and interdisciplinary work groups.
 

The company notes that the new facility, which is near its main Research and Innovation Center, is recruiting IT specialists and software developers in the fields of artificial intelligence, data analysis and machine learning.
