BMW AG’s Designworks unit has developed a concept interior for Virgin Hyperloop One’s high-speed transportation capsule.
The design features upscale amenities such as adjustable heated and cooled leather seats. Touchscreen controls would allow first-class passengers to change their ambient light levels and color to help soften the otherwise confined windowless environment.
The partners worked with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority on the concept, which was unveiled in the United Arab Emirates city this week. The UAE is one of several international sites that Virgin Hyperloop is considering for a future hyperloop line.
Earlier this month the Los Angeles-based startup demonstrated a prototype system in Nevada to a Saudi Arabian delegation. Several other companies are developing similar hyperloop systems that promise to transport people and/or freight in pods levitated by magnets in pressurized tubes at speeds as fast as 700 mph.
