Volkswagen AG’s Bentley brand is developing a plug-in hybrid version of its next-generation Flying Spur sedan, Autocar reports.

The Bentley model will share a powertrain with the plug-in Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. That vehicle teams a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 with an electric motor for a combined output of 460 hp and 515 lb-ft of torque.

The Flying Spur hybrid is expected to have an all-electric range of around 30 miles, according to Autocar. The magazine says the 2.9-liter mill was chosen over larger V-6 engines used in other Porsche hybrid models because it has a larger crankshaft, thus can provide more power.

Bentley is due to launch the next-generation Flying Spur next year. In addition to the hybrid system, standalone V-8 and W-12 engines will be available.

Bentley is in the process of launching its first hybrid vehicle, a gasoline-electric variant of its Bentayga crossover/SUV. The high-end luxury marque plans to offer an electrified variant of all its vehicles by 2025.
