Volkswagen AG’s Bentley luxury marque is offering extra security for the center console storage compartment in the Bentayga SUV.

The option will include a biometric sensor that requires a fingerprint scan to unlock the compartment. Bentley envisions customers using the unit to secure valuables while they are away from the vehicle.

The high-pressure die-cast aluminum compartment houses two USB ports and an auxiliary port to charge devices. The system was developed by Bentley’s Mulliner customization unit, which also is behind the Bentayga’s second-row chilling cabinet and various ultra-luxury appointments.
