Australia’s consumer watchdog agency is suing Volkswagen AG for misleading customers about the company’s diesel-powered vehicles, BBC News reports.

The complaint by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission seeks admission of guilt, unspecified fines and corrective advertising concerning more than 57,000 vehicles VW sold between 2009 and 2015. The affected cars, trucks, vans and SUVs are powered diesels that cheat on emission tests.

The ACCC says VW violated consumer laws by misleading consumers about the emission levels of diesels used in eight the company’s models. The targeted vehicles comprise Tiguan small SUVs; Amarok pickup trucks; Caddy small vans; and Eos, Golf, Jetta, Passat and Polo cars.

VW contends the agency’s action is unnecessary because software updates to fix the problem are “expected soon," according to BBC.
