Audi AG has acquired minority stake in Dublin-based Cubic Telecom Ltd. to develop a wide range of vehicle connectivity applications.

The carmaker's Audi Electronics Venture GmbH subsidiary and Cubic expect to focus initially on next-generation connected infotainment systems using Cubic's cloud-based global machine-to-machine platform.

Audi Electronics Venture was set up 14 years ago to develop in-car software, search for cutting-edge technologies and invest in startups. Ten-year-old Cubic's major investors include Qualcomm and Sierra Wireless.
