Audi AG says it can bring its 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engines into U.S. emission compliance with a simple software update.
Last month the Environmental Protection Agency ruled that about 85,000 of the engines contained software used to trick emission tests. The diesels power cars and crossover vehicles sold under the Audi, Porsche and VW brands.
The proposed fix has not yet been approved by the EPA. Until the agency accepts the software update, VW Group vehicles fitted with the engine cannot be sold in the U.S.
