Aptiv plc and Hertz Corp. have partnered to introduce a fleet of self-driving vehicles, beginning with 75 cars in Las Vegas this autumn.

Hertz’s Donlen fleet management unit will help administer the test fleet. Aptiv, which is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, will supply the hardware and operating system for the vehicles.

In May Aptiv debuted a 30-car fleet of self-driving BMW cars in Las Vegas as part of the ride-hailing service operated by Lyft Inc. Those vehicles have a trained backup driver on board and operated between specified high-demand locations.

Aptiv is the new name of Delphi Automotive after the latter company spun off its powertrain business as Delphi Technologies last December. Aptiv supplies automotive electronics, safety systems, connectivity services and autonomous driving technologies.
