Roughly 300 more owners of diesel-powered BMW vehicles in South Korea are preparing to file a lawsuit next Wednesday over a highly publicized rash of engine fires, says The Korea Herald.

The new group will join 21 owners who filed a complaint about the same issue earlier this week. Both groups, which seek economic compensation, claim the carmaker has known about the defect for two years but failed to take action.

BMW attributes the fires to a faulty exhaust gas recirculation module. The company has apologized for the defect and begun recalling 106,300 vehicles in Korea to replace the hardware. The company also is preparing to call back 323,700 cars in Europe to fix the same problem.
