Newly formed Vitesse AuDessus Inc. is targeting supercar buyers with its carbon fiber customization service.
The Bethesda, Md.-based company says it can provide carbon fiber styling to a vehicle's exterior, interior and select components. Converting a vehicle to a full carbon fiber body costs $100,000 to $200,000 or more for ultra-high-end models such as the Bugatti Veyron, McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and Ferrari Enzo.
Customers can choose from a variety of carbon fiber weaves, colors and final finishes. Vitesse AuDessus works with them throughout the process, providing physical samples and 3D renderings to help make design decisions.
The custom-built structures are made of pure carbon fiber that is laid out, fabricated, cured and finished by hand. The body can be an exact replica of an existing model or a one-off design. Once a design is selected, it takes about two weeks for Vitesse AuDessus (French for superior speed) to complete the job.
