Well, odds are you’re not familiar with the Czech Republic-based firm, TORSUS, which operates a production facility in Slovakia, nor with the PRAETOTRIAN, which it describes as “the world’s first heavy duty 4x4 off-road bus.”
That’s right: A bus that can handle rugged terrain.
The vehicle was designed in collaboration with Werkemotion, a transportation and industrial design firm based in Bratislava.
The PRAETORIAN is predicated on components from Munich-based MAN Truck & Bus—an upgraded version of its chassis, a 6.9-liter diesel engine, semi-automatic transmission. It features Michelin tires. Body parts are coated with Line-X.
The vehicle has a 165-inch wheelbase and there are 82 inches below the axles.
It can carry 35 people plus gear.
Although the 4WD bus is engineered for off-road capability, it is designed for full EU homologation for on and off-road use.
