EY: Deploying Autonomous Vehicles
This seven-page summary from EY says the likelihood of deploying autonomous vehicles is less about technological capabilities and more about the ability of stakeholder to handle the commercial and governance complexities of having self-driving vehicles on the road.
This seven-page summary from EY says the likelihood of deploying autonomous vehicles is less about technological capabilities and more about the ability of stakeholder to handle the commercial and governance complexities of having self-driving vehicles on the road.
The report notes that the introduction of automated vehicles could accelerate a shift from traditional vehicle ownership to a system of access to different integrated mobility solutions.
EY predicts a moderate level of low- and medium-speed self-driving vehicles in special autonomous-vehicle environments in 5-10 years. The firm says those environments will become less restricted and expand to a high level of automated driving at medium and high speeds in 10-20 years.
By about 2045, the report forecasts, there will be large, connected autonomous networks in operation that allow multiple mobility scenarios, including customizable vehicles, car-sharing and on-demand mobility and fleet services.
