Denso and MIT are exploring the idea of automated three-wheelers that could carry passengers or be dispatched to robotically deliver parcels.
Denso and MIT are exploring the idea of automated three-wheelers that could carry passengers or be dispatched to robotically deliver parcels.
Like autonomous cars, such vehicles would be able to monitor their surroundings to maneuver automatically through city traffic, says Rob Wunsche, director of technology planning at Denso. He adds that the bikes would be connected wirelessly to help coordinate their movements, thereby reducing urban traffic congestion.
The concept currently is in a study phase in Europe and southeast Asia, Wunsche adds.
