Cities have a rapidly growing list of options to manage transportation, improve air quality and reduce congestion. But which combination will produce the best results?
A new planning tool developed by Ricardo’s Energy and Environment Group can generate useful comparison scenarios in just a few hours, says David McShane, Ricardo’s executive vice president of Business Development and Strategy.
The technique can assess the impact on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas concentrations on a city-by-city basis of such choices as ride-share, electric-vehicle-only lanes, autonomous vehicles and mass transit, according to McShane.
