The company has hired Debbie Hersman (left), who had headed the non-profit National Safety Council in Itasca, Ill., to become its safety chief in January. She previously chaired the U.S. National Transportation Safety Council.
In her new position, Hersman will be responsible for field and systems safety across Waymo's testing and development program.
Amee Chande (right) was hired from China internet giant Alibaba Group to be Waymo’s chief commercial officer. She also held executive roles at several large retail companies, including Staples, Tesco and Walmart.
At Waymo, Chande will oversee the company's commercial service launch in Phoenix next month and planned expansion into other markets.
