Prosecutors in Germany searched the office of Volkswagen CEO Matthias Mueller late last week as part of their investigation into Audi’s role in VW’s diesel emission cheating scandal, Bild am Sonntag reports.
The Sunday newspaper says prosecutors targeted 47 VW managers at facilities in Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm and Wolfsburg. Mueller was on the list because he also is chairman of Audi’s supervisory board. The office of Audi CEO Rupert Stadler also was among those searched last week, according to Bild.
The newspaper says investigators were looking for notebooks, personal calendars and smartphone memory cards. Prosecutors are trying to determine who knew about VW’s diesel emission cheating, and when they knew it.
