Volvo Car Corp. confirms the Polestar 2 high-performance electric sedan it plans to introduce in the U.S. early next year will generate 400 hp and have a range of 350 miles per charge.

Both figures were first reported last July by Autocar. The car is expected to retail for between $40,000 and $66,000.

The Polestar 2 will ride on the same compact modular platform that carries the conventionally powered XC40 compact crossover vehicle. The model will join the $155,000 Polestar 1 hybrid coupe due this summer as the first car in the performance sub-brand’s lineup. Volvo plans to build only 500 of those cars.

Volvo says the Polestar 2 also will be the carmaker’s first vehicle to feature an infotainment system powered by Google’s Android operating system. The platform enables direct in-car access to Google Maps, a voice-activated assistant and other services without the need for a smartphone.

Volvo says it also will use the Android system in the next-generation XC90 large crossover due in 2021, and in other future models that share the company’s updated SPA2 chassis.
