Los Angeles-based Virgin Hyperloop One demonstrated its high-speed transportation concept this week in Nevada to a Saudi Arabian delegation led by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al Saudi.
Saudi Arabia aims to partner with tech companies such as VH1 as part of the country’s Vision 2030 plan to grow its economy and tourism. VH1 has development projects in the neighboring United Arab Emirates, as well as India, Europe and North America.
Several other companies are developing similar hyperloop systems. This includes Elon Musk’s Boring Co. Musk proposed the concept, which would transport people or freight in pods levitated by magnets in pressurized tubes, five years ago.
During previous tests in December, VH1’s pods topped 240 mph. A video of the company’s latest test can be viewed here.
