The jobless rate in the U.S. declined to 4.3% in July from 4.4% in June as 209,000 more jobs were created, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Unemployment ranged between 4% for adults and 13.3% for teenagers. About 26% of remaining jobless workers have been so for at least 27 weeks.
The bureau says sectors contributing the largest gains were food and beverage services (53,000), professional and business services (49,000) and healthcare (39,000 jobs). Employment was little changed in the manufacturing sector.
