The American economy added 113,000 jobs in January 19% of them in the manufacturing sector, according to the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Unemployment was 6.6%, its lowest since October 2008.
But new-job growth was slower than economists expected for the second consecutive month. The economy, which added 274,000 jobs in November, gained only 75,000 more in December.
