Labor unions representing workers at Toyota Motor Corp. plan to ask for a 6,000-yen ($50) raise in monthly pay when wage talks begin this spring, The Nikkei says.
The unions will finalize their request on Feb. 13, according to the Tokyo-based newspaper. It notes that workers at other Japanese carmakers are likely to make the same request of their companies.
Last year labor asked Toyota for a 4,000-yen increase and received a hike of 2,700 yen ($23). Toyota is expected to post a record operating profit of 2.5 trillion yen ($21 billion) in the fiscal year ending March 31.
