Russian firearms maker Kalashnikov Group, best known for its AK-47 assault rifles, unveiled a retro-styled electric car this week at a Moscow weapons show.
The CV-1 prototype’s design was inspired by the 1970s Soviet-era IZH “Kombi” sedan, according to the company. The car features a power inverter and electronic controls developed by Kalashnikov.
The company says the five-door hatch, which it describes as a component testbed, is equipped with a 90 kWh battery that can accelerate the car from zero to 100 kph in six seconds and propel it for 350 km (217 miles) per charge.
Kalashnikov, which was founded more than 200 years ago, also makes special-purpose boats and unmanned aerial and ground vehicles.
