Tesla Motors Inc. has begun supplying Europe with Model S electric sedans made at its 203,400-sq-ft facility in Tilburg, Netherlands.

The Dutch plant assembles the cars from kits shipped from Tesla's U.S. factory in Fremont, Calif.

The Tilburg center also will serve as Tesla's European headquarters for service and parts distribution. The company says it can deliver parts from the facility to any location in Europe within 12 hours.

Tesla plans to open about 15 retail and service outlets in Europe over the next several months.
