Telefonica Signs Connectivity Deal with Tesla
Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica SA will supply connectivity services across Europe for owners of Tesla Motors Inc.'s Model S electric cars.
Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica SA will supply connectivity services across Europe for owners of Tesla Motors Inc.'s Model S electric cars.
The company says its O2, Movistar networks and affiliation with Netherland's KPN network will deliver navigation, online music, Web browsing and real-time remote vehicle diagnostics to the Model S's 17-inch cockpit display screen. Tesla began marketing the Model S in Europe last year.
Telefonica predicts the proportion of vehicles with built-in connectivity will grow from about 10% today to 90% by 2020.
