Subaru Corp. is investing $2 million in the American Center for Mobility (ACM) test facility in Ypsilanti Township, Mich.
The 500-acre complex will provide low- and high-speed test tracks and zones that simulate urban, residential and commercial areas for four-season testing of connectivity and autonomous vehicle technologies. The first phase of the construction, which includes a 2.5-mile highway loop and a curved tunnel, was completed last month.
With Subaru’s pledge, ACM says it has raised $110 million of its $135 million goal. The total includes five founder-level sponsors—AT&T, Ford, Hyundai, Toyota and Visteon—that committed $5 million each.
