Zhejiang Geely Holding Group’s Volvo Cars plans to manufacture its first all-electric vehicle at a factory in Luqiao, China, in 2019, sources tell Automotive News Europe. They say the vehicle will be sold locally and exported worldwide.

Volvo is expected to announce the plan next week at the Shanghai auto show, when Geely will unveil the Volvo XC40 and Lynk & Co. 01 small crossovers. All three models share the company’s new compact modular architecture and will be produced by the Luqiao plant.

Volvo also is developing all-electric vehicles that will ride on its larger scalable product architecture. The company said previously that it aims to put 1 million electric and hybrid-powered vehicle on the road worldwide by 2025. About 14% of Volvo XC90 large crossovers sold today are plug-in hybrids, according to the report.
