Report: BMW Likely to Open Assembly Plant in Mexico
BMW AG is in advanced talks with officials in Mexico about opening a $1.5 billion factory there in 2016 that would supply 1 Series and 3 Series small cars throughout North America, according to The Wall Street Journal.
BMW AG is in advanced talks with officials in Mexico about opening a $1.5 billion factory there in 2016 that would supply 1 Series and 3 Series small cars throughout North America, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper cites unnamed government officials. BMW says it has made no decision.
Last week LMC Automotive estimated that Mexico's car production would surpass 4 million units by 2018 from 2.9 million last year. IHS Automotive projects that Mexico will be the world's largest exporter to the U.S. by 2015.
