Volkswagen AG’s Audi unit intends to add a small electric crossover vehicle to its lineup within a few years, sources tell Bloomberg News.
About the size of Audi’s conventionally powered Q3 crossover, the vehicle will be produced at VW’s EV plant in Zwickau, Germany, according to the sources. The facility will launch its first EV, the VW I.D. small hatchback, later this year.
VW has said publicly that the Zwickau will expand its lineup to six electrics by 2021, including two unspecified Audi-branded models. Audi’s first EV, the e-tron crossover, debuted in October and is produced in Brussels.
