Study: Nearly 60% of EV Sales in 2035 Will Be in China

Global demand for electric vehicles will multiply by a factor of 15 to 11.3 million units by 2035, with the Chinese market generating 57% of the total, according to the Fuji-Keizai Group.
The Tokyo-based market research firm says the world’s second-largest EV market by then will be Europe, with annual sales of 2.2 million vehicles. North America will be third with 1.4 million EV deliveries.
Global demand for plug-in hybrids will zoom from 400,000 units last year to 12.4 million by 2035, Fuji-Keizai predicts. The firm says China will lead that market too, with annual sales of 4.7 million units. Plug-in sales during the period will reach 3.8 million vehicles in Europe and 2.5 million units in North America.
