Renault SA may drop one of two work shifts at its assembly plant in Flins, France, according to Les Echos.
Renault SA may drop one of two work shifts at its assembly plant in Flins, France, according to Les Echos.
The French business newspaper says the factory's management has told unions it is considering a plan to shed 400 temporary jobs. The plan would eventually reduce annual capacity at Flins to 110,000 units from 145,000 currently.
The factory make the Clio mini and Zoe supermini electric hatchback. The facility is expected to begin making the next-generation Nissan Micra minicar in 2016 at a rate of 82,000 units per year.
Renault won union concessions 12 months ago in exchange for a promise to increase annual car production in France by 180,000 units. Les Echos says cutbacks at Flins won't jeopardize that goal.
