Renault SA is building a €50 million factory in Algeria that will begin assembling the New Symbol, a variant of the Clio small sedan, from kits in November 2014.
The plant, a joint venture between Renault and the Algerian government, is the country's first since Algeria gained independence from France 51 years ago.
The facility will have initial capacity to make 25,000 New Symbols per year, according to Automotive News Europe. The online newspaper says Renault aims to eventually triple capacity and add other models there.
ANE says all cars assembled by the Renault Algeria Production venture will be sold in Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
