The Renault-Nissan Alliance and French transport consultancy Transdev have agreed to co-develop mobility services featuring driverless vehicles.
The companies envision a modular system that enables customers to book rides and mobility operators to provide transportation via self-driving car fleets. Initial tests will involve Renault ZOE electric cars in metropolitan Paris. The research will use Transdev’s on-demand dispatch, supervision and routing platform, according to the partners.
Renault began testing semi-automated Zoe cars last year in Singapore and China. The Renault-Nissan Alliance reiterated earlier this month that it expects to introduce at least 10 models with autonomous drive capabilities by 2020.
