The new car, which is codenamed PFO, will be unveiled later this week during California’s Monterey Car Week. Due in 2020, the PFO will be the first Pininfarina-badged model.
Pininfarina says the car will have a top speed of more than 300 kph (186 mph) and a driving range of 500 km (310 miles). Power is expected to come from four electric motors that together generate as much as 2,000 hp.
Built on a lightweight carbon fiber chassis, the PFO features a futuristic design with a panoramic glass roof. Teaser sketches show a thin LED strip across the front in place of traditional headlights.
The minimalist interior is highlighted by a pair of display screens positioned on both sides of the steering wheel. Key information also can be viewed on a central head-up display.
Production of the PFO will be limited to 150 vehicles. Pininfarina also plans several electric crossover vehicles that are expected to compete with the Lamborghini Urus and Porsche’s Cayenne and Macan models.
