Panasonic Corp. says it has developed a scalable ePowertrain platform for small electric vehicles, including micro EVs and electric bicycles.
The platform consists of a battery, charging connectors, junction box, inverter, DC-to-DC converter and an electric motor. Panasonic says the integrated design improves packaging and efficiency, while reducing costs and development lead-time for customers.
The flexible architecture can be quickly altered based on vehicle specifications such as size, speed and torque, according to the supplier.
The company aims to nearly double revenue it derives from sales to the auto industry to 2.5 trillion yen ($22 billion) by early 2022. This includes display systems and products for next-generation electric, autonomous and connected vehicles.
