Nissan Motor Co.'s vice president of sales and marketing in India has quit to "pursue other options," The Economic Times reports.

Ajay Raghuvanshi, who joined the company in 2013, is credited with leading the launch of Nissan's low-cost Datsun brand in India and establishing the company's own dealership and distribution network there.

Company executives tell the newspaper Raghuvanshi was disappointed at being passed over late last year as managing director of Nissan's Indian operations. That job went to former Mahindra & Mahindra executive Arun Malhotra. Nissan has not yet announced a successor.
