General Motors Co. has set as a term of the impending sale of its Opel unit to PSA Group a ban on marketing Opel’s current models in China, North America or Russia, according to Der Spiegel, which cites no sources.

The German magazine says GM would not block the sale of future Opel models that are developed under PSA’s ownership.

GM and PSA reportedly aim to announce the Opel deal early next month. The merger would make PSA the second-largest carmaker in Europe (after Volkswagen AG) by a wide margin.
