Bollinger Motors LLC says its upcoming B1 electric offroad vehicle will feature an all-aluminum chassis, adjustable hydropneumatics suspension and dual-motor all-wheel drive.

The Stamford, N.Y.-based startup plans to unveil a production-ready version of the SUV, which is targeted at off-road applications, this summer. Bollinger describes the vehicle as a mix of a Ford F-150 pickup, Land Rover Defender SUV and Tesla Model X crossover. The company envisions the B1 being used by builders, do-it-yourselfers, off-road enthusiasts and ranchers.

The aluminum chassis weighs just 295 lbs. The vehicle’s body structure is made of a high-strength, low-alloy steel.

Bollinger says the vehicle, which has a 105-inch wheelbase and 68-inch track, is designed from the ground up as an EV with optimal off-road capabilities. The latter includes a 56° approach angle, 53° departure angle and 33° "break-over" ascent angle.

The base ride height provides 15.5 inches of ground clearance that can be adjusted via a self-leveling independent hydropneumatic suspension with 10 inches of wheel travel. The A-arms are made from high-strength steel and are attached to the frame via polyurethane bushings. Traction can be enhanced with the truck’s detachable anti-roll bars.
