Nissan Motor Co.’s Infiniti luxury brand will unveil its QX Inspiration concept electric crossover vehicle later this month at the Detroit auto show.

The concept previews Infiniti’s first all-electric vehicle, which is due early next decade. Infiniti describes the QX Inspiration as the beginning of a new era for the brand, with an evolution of its design philosophy enabled by electrification and other technologies.
The concept model rides on a modular platform that will be used for a variety of electrified Infiniti cars. This will include parallel- and series-hybrid architectures, such as the e-Power system that uses a small gasoline engine to power an electric motor that drives the wheels.
Featuring a muscular stance with clean lines, the QX Inspiration builds on the design of the design of the Prototype 10 concept that Infiniti showed at last summer’s Concours d’Elegance show in Pebble Beach, Calif. One noticeable difference is the new concept’s closed grille with metallic accent trim.
