Indian, German Firms Set Up Diesel Emissions Venture
Pune, India-based Rochi Engineers Pvt. Ltd. has agreed to form a $12 million joint venture with Germany's PURItech GmbH to design and manufacture emission control systems for diesel engines.
Pune, India-based Rochi Engineers Pvt. Ltd. has agreed to form a $12 million joint venture with Germany's PURItech GmbH to design and manufacture emission control systems for diesel engines.
The partners plan to erect a factory and R&D center in Pune. The plant, which is scheduled to open by mid-2014, will make such components as diesel particulate filters and catalytic converters. The facility will have initial annual capacity of 200,000 units, which is expected to eventually increase to 4 million units.
PURItech says production in India is about 30% cheaper than in Germany.
