Illinois has become the 19th state in the U.S. to sue Volkswagen AG for violating state environmental laws.
Reuters reports that the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday in Cook County Circuit Court, targets about 29,800 diesel-powered VW vehicles in the state that are equipped with software designed to circumvent emission laws.
