Honda to Open Its First Japanese Assembly Plant since 1964

Honda Motor Co.'s new factory in Yorii, Japan, will be the company's first domestic assembly plant in 49 years, Bloomberg News notes.
The facility, which is located 50 miles northwest of Tokyo, will have annual capacity to build 250,000 vehicles when it opens in July.
The factory is 25 miles from Honda's next-newest domestic plant, the one it opened in Sayama in 1964. The company said previously it will reduce production in Sayama and centralize small-car output at the high-tech Yorii facility.
