General Motors Co. brags its Chevrolet Bolt electric people mover will be a market game-changer, assuming the company decides to build it.
The four-passenger Bolt promises a 200-mile range per charge and a base price of about $30,000.
The five-door hatch features an enormous windshield, frosted glass roof, relatively high beltline, wraparound rear window and integrated roof spoiler. Range-extending elements include weight-saving aluminum, magnesium and carbon fiber materials and vented rear fenders.
Inside, the concept is fitted with thin-wall seating mounted on aluminum pedestals. The center console is suspended from the front seats, leaving the floor clear beneath.
Electronic equipment enables the driver's cell phone to be used as the key fob. An automatic park and retrieve system sends the Bolt off to park itself when the driver exits the vehicle, then return when summoned by the operator.
