General Motors Co. has ordered U.S. dealers to stop selling 59,800 fullsize crossover vehicles because they carry labels that overstate their official fuel economy ratings.
The stop-sale order covers all 2016 model Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia vehicles, Automotive News reports. GM, which describes the mislabeling as an “inadvertent error,” tells dealers they can expect to receive the correct mileage labels within the next four days.
AN says affected all-wheel-drive models carry labels indicating their fuel economy ratings are 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined. The actual Environmental Protection Agency ratings are 15/22/17 mpg.
