General Motors Co. confirms its all-electric Chevrolet Bolt will retail in the U.S. at a base price of $37,500, including destination charge.
Depending on the owner’s tax situation, customers can qualify for a federal tax credit of $7,500. GM says the car will have a government rating of 238 miles per charge.
The 2017 model Bolt will go on sale late this year. The base model’s standard equipment includes a rear-vision camera and color touch screen. All trim levels also will be equipped with an adjustable regenerative braking mode called Regen on Demand. When activated, the operator can accelerate and brake by using only the accelerator pedal, although the Bolt’s separate brake pedal would be needed for emergency stops.
The regenerative system, which produces its own braking action, makes electricity when the accelerator is released. GM says the system can extend driving range by as much as 5%.
