Prosecutors in Germany searched 10 Porsche AG sites earlier today as part of an investigation into diesel emission cheating that includes high-level executives, Reuters reports.
The raids occurred in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg, according to authorities. They are investigating possible wrongdoing by three unnamed suspects: a member of the management board, a higher-level executive at Porsche and a person no longer employed by the company. Sources tell Reuters that current CEO Oliver Blume is not among those being investigated.
The probe is similar to a continuing investigation of Porsche’s sister brand Audi regarding V-6 diesels developed primarily by Audi. Authorities say they also searched Audi sites today in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm today.
Prosecutors say both companies, like parent Volkswagen AG, may be guilty of fraud and deceptive advertising for rigging the diesels to evade emission standards but touting them as “clean” engines.
