Prosecutors in Stuttgart say they could levy punitive fines against Bosch, Daimler and Porsche for diesel emission cheating, Reuters reports.

Earlier this week officials in Braunschweig fined Volkswagen AG €1 billion ($1.2 billion) for management failures that led to the carmaker rigging nearly 11 million diesels to evade emission standards.

Stuttgart prosecutors have been investigating certain employees of Bosch, Daimler and Porsche regarding their possible involvement in efforts to evade pollution standards.

Reuters notes that responsibility for probing possible wrongdoing by German carmakers and their suppliers lies with prosecutors for the states in which the companies have their headquarters.
