Ford Motor Co.'s German unit will roll out a nationwide car-sharing program in the second quarter that will let customers rent vehicles for short periods through its dealer network.
The program, called Ford2Go, is a three-way partnership that involves Ford, its German dealer group and DB Rent GmbH, developer of a car-sharing service called Flinkster.
Ford aims initially to offer 500 vehicles at 50 dealerships in Germany by year-end. The carmaker says the program could eventually be extended to other countries in Europe.
In the U.S. Ford is the exclusive supplier of vehicles to Zipcar Inc.'s more than 300 college campus locations.
