Ford Hires GM Exec to Head Marketing in China

Ford Motor Co. has hired Joseph Liu, who retired last year as executive vice president at Shanghai GM, as head of marketing and sales in China.

General Motors Co. has credited Liu, 57, with establishing Buick as a best-selling brand in China.

Liu formerly worked for GM Asia Pacific, headed GM Taiwan and held planning and marketing posts with Taiwan-based Ford Lio Ho Motors Ltd. He began his new assignment on Aug. 1, according to Reuters, which cites an internal announcement about the appointment.
