UPDATE: Ford Adds 1.9 Million Takata Inflators to Airbag Recalls
Ford Motor Co. is recalling 1.9 million vehicles in North America to replace Takata Corp. passenger-side front airbag inflators that could explode when triggered by a crash.

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 1.9 million vehicles in North America to replace Takata Corp. passenger-side front airbag inflators that could explode when triggered by a crash. All but 1,300 vehicles are in the U.S.
The new campaign brings to 2.8 million the number of vehicles Ford has recalled in North America because of potentially fatal Takata inflators. Earlier campaigns targeted driver-side Takata devices.
The new callbacks cover:
- 2007-2010 model Edge small crossovers
- 2006-2011 Fusion sport sedans
- 2005-2006 Ford GT supercars
- 2005-2011 Mustang sport coupes
- 2007-2011 Ranger pickup trucks
- 2006-2011 Mercury Milan sedans
- 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX crossovers
- 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ and Zephyr sedans
Ford says it is not aware of any injuries involving the recalled inflators, all of which lack a drying agent to help prevent the propellant from deteriorating over time. Takata has declared as defective 30 million inflators in the U.S. that are now being recalled by more than a dozen carmakers.
